The delegation of representatives of the World Market Leaders Summit

The 12th China-Northeast Asia Expo took place between 23. and 27. August 2019 in Changchun. Drees & Sommer was part of the 75-person European delegation which included representatives of the Academy of German Market Leaders. At the Drees & Sommer booth, visitors could learn more about the Cradle to Cradle® concept as well as other innovation topics from the building and real estate sector.

The Expo in Changchun was held in the International Conference and Exhibition Center under the theme of "Enhancing Mutual Trust and Cooperation to Create Beautiful Prospects for Northeast Asia". The pavilions included participation of Northeast Asia Countries such as Russia, Korea, Japan and Mongolia, the Chinese Jilin Province, many European countries as well as thematic highlights such as the 5G Pavilion and an area for the Health-Care Industry. The Expo was a warm-up for the World Market Leaders Summit which will also take place in Changchun in May 2020. It will be the first Summit edition in China after 9 successful events in Germany.

Among the main highlights at the Drees & Sommer booth was the Cradle to Cradle (C2C) topic. C2C represents a new economic principle. With continuous biological and technical cycles, material quality is retained, so downcycling with loss of quality is avoided. There is no waste in the conventional sense – only reusable ‘nutrients’. Industries benefit from continually reprocessing raw materials to create new products of equal quality. Drees & Sommer and EPEA GmbH – Part of Drees & Sommer work together to establish the Cradle to Cradle® design principles for the circular economy in all sectors of industry.
